fresh boot into MOA-LiveCD on some 2k box
(doesn't matter if it is a physical box or a VM)

on the second disk ...

opened the windows-directory on harddisk
- following the hints in boot.ini manually
moapatchman detects it as 2k sp3 booted from
driveletter E:

looking up info for patch
"intelide 2k" - target VMware

moapatchman runs thru several stages
of patch 9 - each of this stages is customizable
- so it is easy to create your own patches ...

before finishing and cleaning up
- moapatchman asks for confirmation ...

done ...

you just patched a 2k so that it can run as a VM ...
next create a raw-disk and run the
physical box into a REDO-log "AS IF"
- maybe 5 minutes after boot ...
