the developement VM will look like this after boot
you will have about 280 MB of free space in X: and about 12 Gb free space in R:\
I plan to add a guide for installing stuff like dotnet, viclient asap

Your new setup-tool working fine... the developement VM creation working fine too! Great work
I don't understand why, but I already have pebuild310a.zip file on same folder of setup-tool and it doesn't detect it... the setup-tool wanted to download the file again but fail... says download manualy and cannot continue.
I've deleted the file and restart setup-tool to download the file again (as empty folder) and all working fine... but maybe something wrong with setup-tool?
Not a big deal! |

| Oh... another thing: moa-plugin package saying moa24001 with moa24002.exe... maybe you want to change this too... specially on Windows/MOA load displaying MOA 2.4.001 instead of 002? |

Asteriks - how should I handle this best ?
In the past I updated the moa.exe much more often then the plugins - I don't want to rewrite the plugins for every minor change of moa.exe ...

Hmmm, the only way to change moa.exe without editing moa*-sanbarrow.inf is if the filename doesn't show version (just name it moa.exe instead of moa24-xxx.exe). You must also put generic version on Windows/MOA boot... something like MOA 2.4 (again without version). The version would be only shown with MOA-box on first screen.
But if you want to keep version number on filename, I'm afraid you will must deliver new sanbarrow.inf for each new moa.exe release!
I don't think there's no other way to handle this |

I think having version-numbers on moa.exe is a must-have.
I guess I will procede like with MOA 2.3 - major version changes come with consistent version numbers in boot-screen and moa.exe.
For minor version changes only version-number of moa.exe will change. |

I'm having problems crating the moa with vmware converter iso
Its asking for windows sources then vmware converter source both of which i have but it seems not happy with. Can someone explain in more detail exactly what is being requested file wise?
Is there anywhere I can get a iso built already with these two? I don't miond doing it myself but I have a server to convert i've been having problems with and I just want to focus on the conversion rather than the tool for days -- but I'll do whatever is necessary if someone can spare the time to assist...
Thanks for the tools, was recommended by vmware tech support "off the record".

Scott - when asked for converter show the path to this file
VMware-converter-3.0.3-89816.exe
you can download that version from here
The tool also asks for your Windows-sources - if you have them on a CD just select the driveletter - if you have them extracted somewhere on your harddisk - point to the directory one level higher than the I386 dir.
What did the tool complained ? |

Do they need to be the same version as the server I am cloning or are these files just used by the tool to convert the OS on the server?
Looks like my previous problem was a source file issue.
Thanks for your assistance...

Recommended sources are available here
Download them and either extract the img*file or mount it via daemon-tools.
Scott - the Windows-version of the LiveCD should be equal or newer than the version of the server you want to convert.
Anyway - MOA is optimized to use Windows 2003 Servicepack 2 - reference source is the 180 days trial version - linked above |

Hi, I got what I thought was a successful iso build but when i choose start converter from menu is says Converter not found - starting plan b
Then I choose the path converter is in and it says converter.exe found -- then nothing happens and are given no options - then going to menu just causes same thing to happen over and over....
Any ideas? Doe someone just have an iso with vmconver on it
Thanks,
Scott |

Sorry - that would be illegal.
Can you give some more information on your case ? |

I'd be happy to give you whatever info you need, but not sure what to say other than what I have provided.
I'd be happy to let you vnc (or similar) into my system to see what the error says and even ensure the iso is built properly...
Or, I could let you loo at a copy of my iso to see if it is built correctly. It seemed happy when I did it and said it did everything successfully?
Let me know which you prefer, I'm all ears and I appreciate your time.

Scott
inside the directory you created for building open a cmd-box and go to the subdirectory 'bartpe' run
dir /s *.* > filelist.txt
send that list to webmaster at sanbarrow dot com
I'll look into it
